Resumo

We all try to reduce the impact of industrial processes on the environment. Therefore we try to reduce the amount of steel plant residues to be deposited, we try to recycle waste material or to convert toxic waste materials into valuable products and we try to deposit only such materials that are harmless to the environment. The processes for the treatment of steelplant waste materials must not produce any toxic emissions. With these legal requirements in view a number of processes have been developed or are still in the phase of development to recycle Blast Furnace dust or sludge, BOF dust or sludge and oily mill scale in integrated steelplant. There are processes in use for EAF mini-plant producing zinc bearing dust or chromium- and Nickel-oxide rich dust from special steel plant. Induction furnaces or cupolas used in foundries have very similar problems to solve.
