Resumo

CST is an integrated steelworks company which uses continuous casting process for production of steel slabs and hot coils. This production is based on operation of two blast furnaces operated with coke and PCI systems. The Coke plant has three batteries with 49 ovens each, with nominal capacity of 1,6 Mt/year. This paper deals with the influence of market situation of coal in the criteria of selection of coals for coke production at CST, considering commercial, logistics and technical aspects, and the influence in the quality of coal related to the origin of coals.The quality control of the blend coals and produced coke philosophy.
