In this article it was manufactured a hypoeutectoid matrix of Al-2%Ni and added on it the concentration 1.0% of multiple-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT). The manufacturing of the studied material was done by casting and sudden unidirectional cooling originating predominantly columnar grains. Mechanical tests show that higher nanotube concentrations in the matrix causes increase in mechanical properties and that, in more distant areas of the health extraction base, the microhardness increases. The stress-strain curves in the materials studied show that the addition of 1% CNT in a Al-2%Ni alloy had as a result a high plastic deformation. However, the hardening of the material did not affect the increase in tensile strength.
