Resumo

Aplicação de aços inoxidáveis superduplex em ambientes marinhos vêm crescendo devido a sua combinação de elevada resistência a corrosão e resistência mecânica. Neste trabalho, um corpo-de-prova do tipo “single edge bending” SE(B), foi usinado a partir de soldas de dutos de aço inox superduplex soldados pelo processo TIG e um ensaio de crescimento de trinca por fadiga foi realizado a partir da raiz da solda. O crescimento da trinca foi monitorado pela técnica ultrassônica “time of flight diffraction” TOFD, Queda de Potencial Elétrico (QP) e “compliance”. O perfil de profundidade da trinca ao longo do ensaio foi levantado comparando os três métodos analisando as vantagens e limitações.

 

Application of super duplex stainless steels in maritime environment have been increasing due to their high corrosion and mechanical resistance combination. In this work, a single edge bending (SE(B)) specimen was cut from pipe welds of super duplex stainless steel welded with TIG process and a fatigue crack growth was performed from the root of the weld. The crack growth during the fatigue test was measured and compared with ultrasonic time of flight diffraction (TOFD), potencial drop (QP) and compliance techniques. Depth of the crack profile was obtained with the 3 methods along with advantages and limitations of each one.
