Resumo

O setor da construção Civil demanda por grandes volumes de materiais cerâmicos para as construções das edificações brasileiras. Essa demanda nem sempre é atendida pelo setor ceramista da região, que depende de avaliações técnicas para utilização de uma argila pra produção das peças cerâmicas. O objetivo deste trabalho é caracterizar as argilas da cidade de Castelo – ES para fabricação de peças cerâmicas. O trabalho justifica-se pela possibilidade de aproveitamento do resíduo de rocha ornamental produzido na região para produção das peças cerâmicas e diminuir o passivo ambiental do descarte do resíduo. Os testes realizados consistem na caracterização física pelos limites de Atterberg, densidade real de grãos e tamanho de grão. A caracterização química foi realizada pelo ensaio de eflorescência de raios-X. Os resultados indicaram que uma das argilas locais apresenta características adequadas para uso em peças cerâmicas. Pode-se concluir que existe potencial de crescimento desse segmento com o uso dessa argila

 

The Civil Construction sector demands large volumes of ceramic materials for the construction of Brazilian buildings. This demand is not always met by the ceramist sector of the region, which depends on technical evaluations for the use of a clay for the production of ceramics. The objective of this work is to characterize the clays of the city of Castelo - ES for the manufacture of ceramics. The work is justified by the possibility of using the ornamental rock residue produced in the region for the production of the ceramic pieces and to reduce the environmental liability of the waste disposal. The tests performed consist of the physical characterization by the limits of Atterberg, real grain density and grain size. The chemical characterization was performed by the X-ray efflorescence assay. The results indicated that one of the local clays has characteristics suitable for use in ceramics. It can be concluded that there is growth potential of this segment with the use of this clay
