Resumo

A Mina de Brucutu parte integrante do Complexo Ferrífero das Minas Centrais, no distrito de São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo na borda leste do Quadrilátero Ferrífero, apresenta minério de ferro com caráter tectônico-hidrotermal e supergênico, como itabiritos e corpos de hematita de variadas dimensões e geometrias. Para avaliação da potencialidade do pellet feed produzido na mina de Brucutu, na produção de pelotas para redução direta, variou-se o tipo e a quantidade dos pellet feeds utilizados para a produção da pelota, mantendo no mix 60% dos pellet feeds provenientes das minas de Itabira. Pellet feeds e insumos utilizados foram caracterizados química e mineralogicamente. As pelotas produzidas em escala piloto (pot grate) foram caracterizadas por meio de análises químicas, testes físicos e metalúrgicos e os resultados foram confrontados com dados de basket test. Os resultados obtidos tanto em escala piloto como industrial indicam que a pelota de redução direta obtida é ideal para utilização em reatores de redução direta e atendem as especificações de mercado.

 

The Brucutu Mine is part of the Central Mines Ferriferous Complex, within the São Gonçalo do Rio Abaixo District, located in the eastern edge of the Ferriferous Quadrangle, presenting iron ores of tectonic-hydrothermal and supergenic nature, such as itabirites and hematites. In order to evaluate the feasibity of the use of the Brucutu pellet feed in the production of direct reduction pellets, an experimental planning was used, varying both the type and the amount of the pellet feeds used. Pellet feeds and other materials used were characterized both chemically and mineralogically. The pot grate pellets were characterized by chemical analysis, physical and metallurgical testing, and the results obtained were similar to industrial basket test data. The produced pellets met RD pellets standard market specification in pilot and insdustrial scale.
