In this work, the low-cycle fatigue behavior of samples of a 41B30H steel heat treated in the inter-critical temperature range has been studied and compared with samples treated in the austenitic region. Samples of this steel have been submitted to quenching treatment from 737oC, 782oC e 900oC and tempering at 600oC. Dual- phase microstructures of ferrite+martensite with 56%; 67% and 100% of martensite volume fractions were produced, respectively. Tensile and fatigue tests were realized to build monotonic and cyclic stress-strain curves and Coffin-Manson diagrams. Some samples have received metallographic preparation for surface observation in SEM. The data showed that the material with higher volume fraction of ferrite has a cyclic hardening behavior and the other two conditions, with higher martensite volume fraction, cyclic soften. Coffin-Manson plot shows that the microstructure with higher volume fraction of ferrite has higher performance in the low-cycle fatigue region while the microstructure with 100% of martensite shows higher strength in high-cycle fatigue region. The material heat treated at 782oC shows a intermediate behavior between the other two.
