Resumo

O aço é o material mais reciclável do mundo e a sustentabilidade desempenha um papel fundamental no processo produtivo. Adotar práticas responsáveis nesse setor é essencial para garantir um futuro sustentável, conciliando o crescimento econômico com a proteção ambiental e engajamento social. Os padrões ESG garantem a implementação de ações voltadas aos princípios de governança e socioambientais, assegurando a transparência junto aos stakeholders. Essa garantia é um fator decisivo para clientes e diferencial importante para os investidores. As unidades de Tubarão, Monlevade e Vega da ArcelorMittal Brasil passaram pelo processo de certificação na norma ResponsibleSteel, primeira iniciativa global da indústria do aço para certificação multistakeholder e reuniu, durante rigoroso processo de auditoria, além da indústria do aço, os usuários finais e a sociedade. Os processos de certificação das unidades foram enriquecedores e geraram melhorias significativas nos sistemas de gestão e aprimoramento do relacionamento com a comunidade no entorno. Implementar uma certificação ESG é um grande desafio e, por esse motivo, será apresentado neste artigo a experiência e os aprendizados adquiridos pela ArcelorMittal Brasil durante este processo. A certificação representa um grande avanço no desenvolvimento sustentável da ArcelorMittal e certifica o compromisso da empresa com o desenvolvimento sustentável garantindo o aprimoramento contínuo em todas as áreas do negócio

 

Steel is the most recyclable material in the world and sustainability plays a key role in the production process. Adopting responsible practices in this sector is essential to ensure a sustainable future, reconciling economic growth with environmental protection and social engagement. ESG standards guarantee the implementation of actions aimed at governance and socio-environmental principles, ensuring transparency with stakeholders. This guarantee is a decisive factor for customers and an important differential for investors. ArcelorMittal Brasil Tubarão, Monlevade and Vega units went through the certification process in the ResponsibleSteel standard, the steel industry's first global initiative for multistakeholder certification, which brought together, during a rigorous auditing process, not only the steel industry, but also end users and society. The certification processes of the units were enriching and generated significant improvements in the management systems and enhancement of the relationship with the surrounding community. Implementing an ESG certification is a great challenge, and, for this reason, this article will present the experience and learning acquired by ArcelorMittal Brasil during this process. The certification represents a major advance in ArcelorMittal's sustainable development and certifies the Company commitment to sustainable development, ensuring continuous improvement in all business areas.
