Resumo

Devido à existência de poucas informações voltadas à degradação de fibras naturais lignocelulósicas por radiação ultravioleta, este estudo avaliou as mudanças estruturais e físico-químicas da fibra de curauá após exposição a diferentes tempos de radiação UV-B. As fibras foram avaliadas por meio das análises de espectroscopia de infravermelho por transformada de Fourier (FTIR), por análise termogravimétrica (TGA) e por microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV), antes e após à irradiação nos tempos estabelecidos. Por meio da análise dos resultados, foi possível observar que a degradação por ultravioleta promoveu a remoção da matriz constituída de lignina, à medida em que se aumentou os tempos de radiação, promovendo o envelhecimento precoce da fibra de curauá.

 

Due to the existence of limited information on the degradation of natural lignocellulosic fibers by ultraviolet radiation, this study evaluated the structural and physicochemical changes of curauá fiber after exposure to different times of UV-B radiation. The fibers were evaluated by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), before and after irradiation at the established times. Through the analysis of the results, it was possible to observe that the degradation by ultraviolet promoted the removal of the lignin matrix, as the radiation times were increased, promoting the early aging of the curauá fiber.
