"The ladle sliding gate opening in the continuous casting is crucial for the continuity of casting process of liquid steel. Any failure in the establishment of the free flow of steel means losses to the timing, which can vary from a simple delay in production to the stop of the continuous casting machine, not to mention the increase in the potential risk of accidents during the operation of forced opening of the sliding gate with oxygen. Among the many factors known as the causes of \\\\\\\""non-free opening\\\\\\\"" are the errors and inaccuracies in the operation of sanding the sliding gate nozzle with refractory sand. To reduce this negative influence, customized solutions for each steel plant are designed in the form of electromechanical systems with different levels of automation. In the melt shop, where the object of this work is located, the original sanding method consisted of the manual addition of the sand through a funnel steel pipe with the ladle in the vertical position, but the results were precarious due to the large incidence of debris falling from slag line inside the sliding gate bore. The method was modified for the addition with the ladle in an inclined position, reducing the drop-in debris in the sliding gate region, but still involves the physical effort and exposure to the risk of two operators simultaneously. This work describes the solution found for the implantation of a versatile mechanism, able to do the ladle sanding even with the ladle still pending by the crane, in an inclined position of an angle of up to 50°, triggered and monitored remotely. The characteristics of adaptation to the unfavorable environment are highlighted. Benefits to the timing of the operation, ergonomics, operational security and regularity of the results are expected from your deployment. "
