OTIMIZAÇÃO DO TRATAMENTO TÉRMICO DO FERRO FUNDIDO BRANCO ALTO CROMO CLASSE IIB SUBMETIDOS A DESGASTE ABRASIVO: OPTIMIZATION OF HEAT TREATMENT OF HIGH CHROMIUM WHITE CAST IRON CLASS IIB SUBMITTED TO ABRASIVE WEAR

O ferro fundido branco de alto cromo classe IIB é aplicado em peças onde se exige elevada resistência ao desgaste, principalmente no setor minero-metalúrgico. Peças fabricadas a partir desta liga, após solidificação, apresentam heterogeneidades microestruturais que eleva a dureza do material, dificultando as operações de usinagem. Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar o efeito de um pré-tratamento de recozimento sobre a trabalhabilidade da liga. Partindo de um tratamento isotérmico à 700°C, avaliou-se a dureza, microdureza e a microes trutura do material após 4, 6 e 8 horas de encharque nessa temperatura. Adotando o pré-tratamento, proposto neste trabalho, foi possível diminuir a dureza do material e homogeneizar a microestrutura antes da etapa de têmpera e revenimento.

The white cast iron of high chrome class IIB is applied to parts which require high wear resistance, especially in mining and metallurgical industry. Parts manufactured from this alloy after solidification, microstructural heterogeneities exhibit that raises the hardness of the material, making it difficult machining operations. This study aims to evaluate the effect of pre-annealing treatment on the workability of the alloy. Assuming an isothermal treatment at 700°C, was evaluated the hardness, microstructure of the material after 4, 6 and 8 hours at this temperature. Adopting the pre-treatment proposed in this work, it was possible to reduce the hardness of the material and homogenize the microstructure before the step of quenching and tempering.
