Resumo

A demanda por materiais ecológicos vem crescendo exponencialmente nos últimos anos. O potencial destes produtos é dado tanto pela versatilidade em seu uso quanto pela sua disponibilidade na natureza. Um dos materiais em expansão é o OSB (Oriented Strand Board), utilizado na vedação do Steel Frame. O trabalho tem como objetivo substituir em três porcentagens 15%, 30%, 45% das tiras de madeira do OSB convencional pela fibra do epicarpo do coco de babaçu (FECB), a fim de melhorar a resistência mecânica. Os resultados obtidos na chapa de 11 mm incorporada com FECB apresentaram resistência a tração entre 15 e 26 MPa e de flexão entre 42 e 75 MPa, tornando assim superiores ao produto encontrado no mercado.

 

The demand for environmentally friendly materials has been growing exponentially in recent years. The potential of these products is given both by the versatility of its use and by its availability in nature. One of the expanding materials is the OSB (Oriented Strand Board), used in the Steel Frame seal. The objective of this study was to replace 15%, 30%, 45% of the conventional OSB wood strips by the Babaçu coconut epicarp fiber (FECB) in three percentages in order to improve mechanical strength. The results obtained in the 11 mm plate incorporated with FECB showed tensile strength between 15 and 26 MPa and of flexion between 42 and 75 MPa, thus making it superior to the product found in the market.
