Abstract
The crack nucleation and growth on steel beam bridges may be due to loading oscillations. The effort redistribution among the structural elements is very important to evaluate repairing costs. In this work a steel beam model has been proposed to simulate inclined cracks openings due to cyclic loads. The linear elastic fracture mechanics is adopted to analyze fracture formation on steel structures. The corresponding numerical algorithms to be implemented in microcomputers are proposed for simplified models. Numerical results obtained by applying those developed codes are compared with the solutions achieved by using other well-known computer software.
