Abstract
Nickel-based superalloys; Simulation; Thermo-Calc; JMatPro; PanDaT.
At high temperatures, the nickel-based superalloys can achieve thermodynamic conditions close to the equilibrium. It is important the knowledge of phase stability present in the conditions where these materials are applied. However, in multicomponent systems such as the superalloys, informations based only in the experimental measurements of binary and ternary systems not always can be direct applied to the real alloy. Hence, the thermodynamic simulations became a tool able to assist the understanding of the microstructure and the properties in multicomponent alloys based in binary and ternary phase diagrams models. Although related with equilibrium conditions, these simulations have shown that valuable information can be obtained with this technique. The aim of this work is to evaluate how the simulations can help the interpretation and prevention of the experimental results utilizing nickel-based superalloys. The thermodynamic simulations presented in this work were made with Thermo-Calc, JMatPro and PanDaT softwares, with the nickel-based superalloys database.
