Abstract
The analysis of strain in drawing has been performed through experimental methods and numerical techniques. The experimental methods commonly involve complex tests/procedures or can lead to uncertain results. On the other hand, numerical techniques have been successfully applied in forming processes simulation, and seem to be an efficient alternative for the study of the metal flow. In this paper, the study of the strain in bar drawing has been accomplished by the finite element method. Two materials were used, 304 and 420 stainless steel, and four drawing variants were considered. The results were observed in terms of the strain distribution in the drawn bar cross section and the average strain/redundant deformation factor.
