Abstract
Ashlow Guides and Mill Spares are part of the Special Products Division of Davy International. The Davy International company mentioned above is located in Sheffield and was established in 1830. Davy International is a worldwide engineering business, employing 5000 people and provides both engineering and construction services and equipment design and supply to the iron and steel, non-ferrous metals and environmental market sectors. Roller guide equipment was introduced into many ferrous and non-ferrous rolling mills by Brightside Foundry and Engineering Company, Sheffield, England during the 1940's, but development was slow with respect to design and materials. Brightside Foundry was incorporated into Davy at the end of the 1960's. Ashlow's team of experienced engineers entered the roller guide business in the mid. 1960's and have been responsible for the following development in guiding technology . For the presentation at ABM in 1994, Ashlow Guides will focus on multi-siit rolling system and equipment. Ashlow have technical agreements with Metaiform Konsult of Sweden and N.K.K. of Japan on the know-how and process of producing 2, 3 and 4 bars from one bar to increase the production capacity of reinforced bar roliing mills. This process is probably the only capital investment in a rolling mill which is self financing in less than a one year period.
