Abstract

With the increase of the national production of pellets and the growing need to reduce the level of polluting elements, ENFIL has been developing as well as playing a prominent role in the application of atmospheric pollution control systems for the pelletizing areas. We call very special attention to the most recent project, “Collection and tertiary filtering system of plants 5 and 6 of NIBRASCO-CVRD”, achieving excellent performances in the reduction of polluting elements and in the quality of the implementation of this enterprise. The results obtained at the plant of NIBRASCO-CVRD have been simply outstanding, with the emissions of particulate matter at the stack smaller than 5 mg/Nm³, well below the value allowed by the controlling agencies (50 mg/Nm³). At the localized points (polluting sources), we supply the most modern designs in the hoods and closures, thus minimizing the leakage of particulate matter into the atmosphere. Using electrostatic filters, with state of the art technology (under technological license of Nippon Steel Co - Japan), which uses the ESCS concept “Electrostatic Space Cleaner Super”, with a 600 mm spacing between collector plates, has resulted in excellent filtering performance.
