Abstract

No presente trabalho são apresentados resultados relativos ao teste de compósitos diamantados no corte de granito da região do Norte-Noroeste do Rio de Janeiro. Foi verificado que o novo compósito desenvolvido apresenta comportamento similar aos comerciais disponíveis no mercado nacional. Além disso, os compósitos foram avaliados em termos de estabilidade térmica e resistência mecânica. A análise da região de fratura após teste de compressão mostrou que os diamantes ficam firmemente ancorados na matriz metálica o que confere ao compósito um bom desempenho.

In this paper we present results concerning the diamond composite performance in granite cutting. It was found that the new developed composite exhibits behavior similar to commercially available in the domestic market. Furthermore, the composites were evaluated in terms of thermal stability and mechanical strength. The analysis of the region of compression fracture after testing showed that the diamonds are firmly anchored in the metal matrix which gives good performance for the composite.
