Abstract
The iron ore pellet production is an important process for steel fabrication and on the last decade the quality demand and low costs imposed to the producers has being increased, demanding automation and control applied on the plants, aimed to reduce the production costs and achieved better yields and process quality. This work shows the speed balling drum automation where, for the pellet size control, was developed and applied a fuzzy logic control, FLC, with feedback signal based on a digital image process, DIP. The DIP treats the pellet binary image and detects the amount of pellets on the size of 9,5 to 12,5 mm. As a result of this implementation, the better size pellet control was obtained.
