Abstract

A análise de falhas pode revela-se como uma importante ferramenta para melhoria do projeto e operação de equipamentos. Este estudo visa determinar as causas que levaram à ruptura de uma camisa de rolo compactador de minério. A falha ocorreu durante a operação a partir da formação de uma trinca ao longo de plano longitudinal ao plano de simetria do rolo. O estudo seguiu a metodologia usual empregada em análise de falhas. Os ensaios realizados foram análises visuais, análise da morfologia da fratura através da microscopia óptica, metalografia, microdureza e análise química. Através da metodologia empregada foi estabelecido os fatores mais relevantes que provocaram a falha do componente. A trinca da camisa ocorreu por sobrecarga, sem deformação plástica evidente, partindo de região junto ao canto entre a face do lado externo e o diâmetro externo da camisa do rolo. Foi verificado também que a camisa apresenta defeitos de fundição - microrrechupes, porosidades, segregações - que incentivaram a formação da trinca.

Failure analysis can prove to be an important tool for improving the design and operation of equipment. This study intend to determine the causes that led to the rupture of the roller shirt oil compactor. The failure occurred during the operation from the formation of a crack along the longitudinal plane to the plane of symmetry of the roller. The study followed the usual methodology used in fault analysis. The tests were visual analysis, analysis of fracture morphology through optical microscopy, metallography, microhardness and chemical analysis. Through the methodology used, the most relevant factors that caused the failure of the component were established. The cracking of the jacket occurred by overload, without evident plastic deformation, starting from region near the corner between the face of the outer side and the outer diameter of the roller liner. It was also verified that the jacket has found defects - microreflections, porosities, segregations - that encouraged the formation of the crack
