Abstract

O desenvolvimento tecnológico, com novos materiais e processos fabris, juntamente com as crescentes demandas por novos materiais cada vez mais eficientes, têm gerado necessidades de conhecimentos interdisciplinares, bem como, de profissionais cada vez mais capacitados. Frente a tal situação, verificou-se uma oportunidade para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho, pois o estudo de espumas metálicas tornou-se atrativo para pesquisadores interessados em aplicações tanto científicas quanto industriais no setor automotivo e para tanto precisa-se pesquisar e compreender melhor seu processo de fabricação, caracterização e diferentes possibilidades de aplicação.

 

The technological development with advanced materials and processes, together with the growing demand for more efficient materials has created a need for interdisciplinary knowledge and more capacitated professionals. Considering that the study of the metallic foams has became very interesting for the automotive industry taking into account that many applications are envisaged for such materials, it is verified the opportunity for the development of the present work. In order to employ these materials as a main component in structures, it is necessary to have reliable knowledge about the properties, characterization, fabrication and application of the foam and the base material.
