Abstract

Saint-Gobain Canalização is the only cast iron pipes company by centrifugation process in Brazil, located in Barra Mansa, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It is a fully integrated producer of spheroidal graphite cast iron pipes, from the diameter 80 to 1200mm, for water supply and sewerage. These days Saint-Gobain Canalização operates two blast furnaces to meet the hot metal requirements. The combined injection of natural gas and oxygen at blast furnace 02 has been started-up in june 2003, with the following aim: charcoal rate reduction.
