Abstract

In the field of strip-processing technology there is an ever increasing demand for specialized lines for the galvanizing of hot-rolled strip. Many of these installations are capable of inline pickling and others can also perform cold-rolled strip galvanizing. Combined pickling and galvanizing lines with an integrated bypass system offer producers the outstanding advantage of pickling-only or galvanizing operations, providing a high degree of flexibility to respond quickly to market demands. This paper focuses on various operational, economical and investment aspects of these types of lines and an evaluation of possible line configurations is presented.
