Abstract

Sinter plants are still an important facility in the production chain for ironmaking. They are not only producing sinter as ironbearing burden for the blast furnace, but also recycle a lot of valuable secondary materials to avoid their landfilling. However the environmental legislation has been continually and strictly tightened by the administrations concerning the emissions of pollutants in the waste gas. The option ROGESA chose to face this liability was a so called „end-of-pipe“ solution with the retaining of the existing electrostatic precipitator and the addition of an injection process via a so called Entrained Flow Reactor working with hydrated lime and activated lignite. The bag filter enables the de-dioxin reaction and removes the dust. With this installation the ROGESA sinter strand No.3 is at the top of the environmental development for waste gas cleaning; Sinter strand No.2 has also to be equipped within the next two years.
