Abstract

O trabalho avaliou a estabilidade térmica e o índice de fluidez do compósito polimérico de polietileno de baixa densidade com alumínio (LDPEAl), oriundo de embalagens longa vida, e sua mistura com polietileno de alta densidade (HDPE), nas proporções HDPE/LDPEAl: 100/0, 80/20, 50/50 e 20/80 %m/m. As estabilidades térmicas do LDPEV (LDPE virgem) e do LDPEAl apresentaram diferenças significativas. Verificou-se que a adição do HDPE proporcionou uma sensível melhora na estabilidade térmica da mistura em relação ao LDPEAl. Foi observado que a presença do alumínio no compósito HDPE/LDPEAl alterou de forma substancial a fluidez do material, quando comparado ao fluxo do polietileno de baixa densidade virgem (LDPEV).

 

The study evaluated the thermal stability and melt flow index of the low density polyethylene (LDPEAl) with aluminum from long-life packaging, and their mixtures with high-density polyethylene (HDPE), in ratios HDPE/LDPE and 20/80% w/w. The thermal stabilities of LDPEV and LDPEAl showed significant difference. It was found that the addition of HDPE provided a significant improvement in thermal stability of the mixture in relation to LDPEAl. It was found that the presence of aluminum in the composite HDPE/LDPEAl changed substantially the material 100/0, 80/20, 50/50 flowing when compared to the one of low density polyethylene virgin (LDPEV).
