Abstract
Corrosion behaviour of an 85%Zn/15%Al coating applied on carbon steel AISI 1010 was evaluated under different corrosion conditions. Samples were exposed for four years in an urban atmosphere and every year anodic polarization curves were obtained in a 0.1M NaSO₄ solution. Also, using electrochemical impedance and electrochemical noise measurements, samples were tested at different times of immersion in chloride containing solutions. Prohesion test was carried out for 1000 hours of exposure. Visual evidences were obtained at the beginning and at the end of the test. The results presented in this study show that the Zn/Al coating under the studied conditions is a good coating choice for carbon steel.
