Abstract

Current furnace technology is oriented towards an ever more efficient use of electrical and alternative energies: the increasing need for flexibility and efficiency of furnaces leads research towards simple and reliable devices able to guarantee high performance standards. The idea of increasing the incidence of chemical energy in the overall energy balance of furnaces has been used with success since water cooled lance and oxy-fuel burners are in use. The MODULE technology developed by DANIELI and MORE was born from the Danarc furnace experience and its benefit is now exploited in ABS meltshop where it is proposed as an evolution in the management of electric furnaces
