Abstract

The present article summarizes the achievements of the Metallurgical Division of INTEMA (Argentina) in a research project aimed to develop basic and applied knowledge related to the metallurgy of austempered ductile iron (ADI), and to transfer the technology to small and mid-size companies. The methodology applied to carry out research and to transfer know-how is described. Details are given for specific cases in which the performance of prototypes has been tested in service. The current research activities are also reviewed.
