Abstract

Temperature distribution in coke oven is a key factor to coke oven operation, coke quality control, and energy saving. Improvement in temperature distribution control in coke oven battery and individual oven was realized through development of "Automatic Coking Control System" and "Pushed-out Coke Temperature Profile Sensor". With increasing antiquity it has become apparent that end flue temperature could not rise as high as needed due to damages to refractories around jamb. To solve the problem supplementary heating system of end flue has been developed and put into practical use, insuring high temperatures at end flues. Other technical development includes chamber wall observation system, and technique to repair damaged refractories and joints by the use of ceramic welding and filling up. Application of these development to maintain proper temperature distribution has brought about stabilized coke oven operation, minimized coke quality fluctuation, reduced heat consumption.
