Abstract

A superliga de níquel, Inconel 718, é altamente aplicada em plantas da indústria petroquímica e de geração de energia devido a sua capacidade de manter uma boa relação entre rigidez e tenacidade mesmo em altas temperaturas. Por outro lado, a utilização desse tipo de material nas condições exigidas nessas indústrias pode favorecer a ocorrência do fenômeno de fragilização pelo hidrogênio, que reduziria a vida útil desses materiais em serviço. Foram realizados ensaios de tração e análises das superfícies de fratura, observando a influência da fragilização neste tipo de liga. Foi observada a redução das propriedades mecânicas embora a análise da superfície de fratura não tenha indicado a mudança no modo de fratura desse material, mudando de dúctil para frágil.

The nickel superalloys, Inconel 718, is highly applied in petrochemical plants and power generation due to their ability to maintain a good relationship between stiffness and toughness even at high temperatures. On the other hand, the use of such material under the conditions required in these industries may favor the occurrence of the phenomenon of hydrogen embrittlement, which would reduce the useful life of these materials in service. Tensile and fracture surface analyzes were performed by observing the influence on this type of alloy. The reduction in mechanical properties was observed although the fractographic analysis has not indicated the change in fracture mode of the material, changing the ductile to brittle.
