Abstract

Considerando-se o atual cenário dos processos de fundição executados no estado de Santa Catarina, verificou-se uma evidente necessidade de melhoria nos sistemas de aquecimento empregados nas panelas de vazamento. O presente trabalho traz uma análise dos métodos vigentes baseada em visitas realizadas a sete empresas de médio porte das regiões norte e nordeste catarinense, evidenciando suas necessidades no que tange à segurança e, em especial, no que se refere a sua eficiência energética em processos cujo aproveitamento não ultrapasse a margem de 10%. Tal estudo possibilitou a identificação de pontos definidos de melhoria, bem como o alinhamento de novas soluções de projeto com as características específicas e preferências das empresas de fundição estudadas. Como resultado final da pesquisa foi apresentado um protótipo de panela de médio porte para a fundição de ferro nodular com sistema de aquecimento otimizado, o qual permitiu o controle de diversos parâmetros do processo, tal como temperatura, pressão e vazão do gás combustível utilizado. Isto possibilitou o desenvolvimento de um método com maior eficiência energética e maior segurança, mediante a utilização de um energético de aquecimento menos poluente (gás natural), oferecendo maior vida útil ao equipamento.

 

Considering the current scenario of casting processes in Santa Catarina state, there is a clear need for improvements in systems used for heating metallurgical vessels. This paper presents an analysis of existing methods based on visits to seven medium-sized companies in northern and northeastern regions of Santa Catarina, which made evident that there were necessities regarding safety and energy efficiency. This study enabled the identification of aspects that needed improvement, and proposes new design solutions with the specific characteristics and preferences of the foundry companies studied. As a result, a prototype of a medium-sized vessel with an optimized heating system was built for casting ductile iron, which allowed the control of several parameters of the process, such as temperature, pressure and natural gas flow. This enabled the development of a method of vessel heating with higher efficiency and security using natural gas as fuel that is more environmentally friendly and provides longer life to the equipment.
