Abstract
In this paper, the requirements and possibilities of the Tecnored Process to use alternative solid fuels, other than coke, are discussed. This ability of the process was proved in the pilot plant tests by extensively using green petroleum coke, biomasses, high ash cokes, etc. The results of the pilot furnace using these fuel sources are presented as well as the introduction of the Tecnored furnace simulator as a very important and reliable tool to approve other sources of solid fuel not tested in the pilot plant.
