Abstract
This study evaluated the impact of operational suction, blend volatile matter, and charging height on the average temperature and net coking time in heat recovery coke ovens. An industrial database containing more than 7 thousand coking cycles was used and statistically filtered to remove outliers and operational inconsistencies. Correlation analyses and multiple linear regression with a quadratic term for volatile matter were applied. The results showed that operational suction had a strong influence on the thermal behavior of the ovens, with higher suction levels associated with higher temperatures and shorter net coking times. Volatile matter presented a non-linear behavior, indicating a tendency toward lower average temperatures and longer net coking times for blends with higher volatile content. Charging height showed a positive influence on the average temperature. The developed models presented physical consistency and satisfactory capability to represent the average trends of the industrial process.
