Abstract
We here-after describe an interesting concept, being developed in Belgium with DUFERCO La Louvière, to rejuvenate an existing reversing Cold Rolling Mill facility, by increasing its production from 400,000 to 1,400,000 tons/year, while adding 450,000 tons/year of coated coils. A significant fraction of the galvanized coils will be in-line pre-coated with a layer of primer paint, or organic anti-fingerprint. As a complement, a flexible Steel Service Center located a few kilometers nearby, in Manage, will be equipped with two small finish paint lines and downstream finishing facilities. This concept was designed to provide a fast and versatile response to a scattered and moving market demand, providing an optimum process quality combination, at a competitive production cost.
