Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to show the results obtained till this moment in a study that aims to interpret the behavior of different iron ore concentrates from Brazilian mines in the pelletizing process face the organic and inorganic binder (bentonite) utilized in the industry. The specific objective is to compare the performance of each binder through the pellets characterization obtained in front of compression strength, wet-knock, shock temperature and microstructural analysis of the fired pellets in a 1350°C temperature; observing the bridges and faces formed, the porosity and the influence of the microstructure in the quality of the pellet, it means, its correlation with the pellet compression strength.
