Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar a utilização de escória de aciaria em base, sub-base e misturas afálticas em substituição aos agregados pétreos naturais. Foram utilizadas 1.500.000 toneladas de escória de aciaria em 200 km de estrada com 4 pistas na Venezuela. A escória de aciaria foi utilizada nas camadas de sub-base e base, na camada asfáltica pré-misturada a quente, Binder e na capa de rolamento. Com esta utilização conciliou-se técnica, economia e meio ambiente com resultados positivos devido a um controle tecnológico eficiente na preparação granulométrica da escória e na execução dos serviços. O início desta utilização foi em Vitória ES em 1986, para pavimentação de 105 km de ruas, avenidas e rodovias utilizando escória de aciaria produzida pela CST. O projeto foi executado e, após 20 anos, não apresenta qualquer tipo de fadiga. Após este trabalho, o uso foi se disseminando em função do maior conhecimento técnico dos executores, mas foram aparecendo alguns insucessos como na pavimentação do Pátio do Apart Hospital, também em Vitória.

 

The aim of this paper is to present the steel slag use in asphalt base, sub-base and asphalt mixtures in substitution to natural aggregates. It has been used in 1.500.000 tons of slag in 200 km of road with 4 tracks, in Venezuela. The slag was used in sub- base and base layers, in hot pre mixtures asphalt layer and in the rolling layer. With this use was conciliated technique, economy and sustainability with positive results due to efficient technological control in the aggregate sized preparation of the slag and in the execution of the services. The beginning of this use was in Vitória, ES in 1986, in 105 km of streets, avenues and highways pavement using slag produced by CST. The project was executed and, after 20 years, it does not present any fatigue. After this first aplication, the use was spreading due to technician knowledge of the executors, but it had been appearing some failures as in the pavement of the Patio of the Apart Hospital, Serra, ES.
