Abstract

In the frame of gas based direct reduction processes, Danarex™ stands out for its possibility to produce a DRI, which is passivated without the need for briquetting. This is achieved by the use of high reduction temperatures and controlled carburization parameters that ensure the production of an iron carbide rich material barely permeable to oxygen and moisture. Third party test on Danarex™ pilot plant production confirmed the safety and transportability of the product. In this article the main process parameters, which are applicable to new plants as well as for revamping, are presented and discussed.
