Abstract
The elastic interactions between two macrospheres, set forth by Hertz, may be described by means of the combined effects of a spring and of a thin condensed film. The spring is always film embedded. The modulus of the thin film energy is comparable with the spring energy. Also the behaviour of atomic pairs (first, second, third, ... neighbours), making up the macrospheres, may be described by means of equations related to mathematical springs and condensed films.
