Abstract
Today one third of the world wide raw steel production is produced with Electric Arc Furnaces. In order to be also in the future competitive against integrated steel mills a flexibility and efficiency of the Arc Furnace operation is requested. In the work today we want to present two systems, which may help to increase this requested flexibility and efficiency of the EAF operation. The first system the RADEX DPP system is a high efficiency bottom blowing system. This system is improving the metallurgy and the whole process of the EAF by injecting Ar/N2 through the bottom into the steel bath. The second system is the RHI-Terminator, which is a gunning system developed to make gunning repairs of the furnace faster and more sufficient.
