Abstract

A perpetuação da vida e a sobrevivência das futuras gerações estão diretamente ligadas às atitudes da atualidade. E, mais do que atitudes, a consciência ecológica é que faz a diferença. Por isso, o Programa de Educação Ambiental da ArcelorMittal Vega tem como compromisso fomentar a responsabilidade e o envolvimento individual e coletivo da comunidade, despertando o interesse pela defesa da qualidade ambiental. O trabalho de educação ambiental da ArcelorMittal Vega não começou por acaso. Ele faz parte de uma política séria, iniciada antes mesmo de a empresa começar a produzir, com importantes ações educativas. Uma delas envolve crianças do ensino fundamental do Município de São Francisco do Sul, através do Concurso Escolar Vega, com temas relacionados ao meio ambiente. Junto com ele, a empresa oferece aos professores das escolas da região o curso de Educação Ambiental – Conceitos e Práticas. Outro projeto recém-lançado, Verde com Vida, tem abordagem educacional de conscientização permanente sobre a importância da preservação e proteção do meio ambiente, com temas voltados ao desenvolvimento sustentável. Os empregados e familiares também estão no foco do Programa de Educação Ambiental da ArcelorMittal Vega, com treinamentos periódicos, assim como a comunidade, que participa de projetos e campanhas relacionadas a temas ambientais.

 

The perpetuation of life and survival of the future generations are straightly related to current attitudes. And, more than attitudes, it is the ecological awareness that makes the difference. Therefore, the Program of Environmental Education from ArcelorMittal Vega has a commitment to promote the responsibility and the individual and group involvement of the community, awakening the interest for the defense of the environmental quality. The work of Environmental Education of ArcelorMittal Vega has not started by chance. It is part of a serious politic that had started even before the company started to produce with important educational actions. One of them involves children of the primary school from the district of São Francisco do Sul, through the School Contest Vega, with themes related to the environment. Along with it, the company offers the teachers from regional schools the Environmental Education Course – Concepts and Practice. Another project recently launched, Green with Life, has an educational approach of permanently awareness about the importance of the environment preservation and protection, with themes concerning the sustainable development. The employees and relatives are also in focus of the Program of Environmental Education of ArcelorMittal Vega, with constants trainings, just as the community that participates in projects and campaigns related to environmental themes.
