Abstract

Estimular o interesse dos estudantes de escolas públicas para disciplinas básicas cursadas, mostrando as aplicações práticas da energia nuclear, foi o objetivo do projeto “Energia Nuclear: Exposições Itinerantes”, de que trata este trabalho. Visou também despertar vocações para a ciência e tecnologia, contribuindo para a formação de cidadãos com visão crítica. Foi concebido para ser apresentado nas escolas ou em locais de grande circulação de pessoas. A realização do projeto demandou, resumidamente, as seguintes atividades: levantamento de informações sobre público-alvo, montagem da infra-estrutura, capacitação da equipe, elaboração de material multimídia, definição da estratégia de atendimento às escolas, realização do evento com palestra e exposição, realização de entrevista por jornalistas, avaliação do projeto no dia do evento e a posteriori e divulgação do projeto. No total, 39 pessoas do CDTN engajaram-se diretamente no projeto, que atingiu 30 escolas, sendo 12 municipais e 18 estaduais, alcançando cerca de 11100 estudantes. Dos 33 questionários de avaliação devolvidos pelas escolas, o projeto teve como avaliação global 28 notas “Muito Bom” e 5 notas “Bom”. Dos 162 estudantes de 6 escolas que preencheram o questionário a posteriori, 92,3% consideraram importante o tipo de palestra apresentada no projeto; 54,3% afirmaram que se sentiram estimulados a estudar mais os assuntos apresentados. O projeto, também apresentado a 350 professores do ensino médio de escolas estaduais, foi distinguido com honra ao mérito no Prêmio de Divulgação Científica “Francisco de Assis Magalhães Gomes” do Estado de Minas Gerais.

 

Stimulating the interest of public high-school students for basic subjects was the main objective of this project. Visualization of practical uses of the knowledge acquired by students in such schools, using as example the development of nuclear technology, was the strategy used. The project had also as purpose awakening vocations to science and technology and to contribute for having citizens with ability to question their uses. Designed to be presented at schools or in places of high circulation of people, the project had as a nucleus an exposition and a previous talk motivating the audience to the nuclear theme associated at the same time to subjects taught at such schools. Designing, performing and evaluating the project required the following activities: searching of information on the target public, infrastructure mounting, team training, multimedia material elaboration, strategy for dealing with the students, talk presentation, distribution of booklet on nuclear themes, reception at the exposition, interview with students and teachers by journalists, evaluation of the project by the schools, evaluation of the project by some students and also reporting the project to the public. About 39 people of CDTN were directly involved in the project, that reached 30 schools, from city and state governments. The talks reached about 11,100 students. The project received the following global evaluation from the 33 returned questionnaires: 28 grades as “Very Good” and 5 as “Good”. About 350 state high-schools teachers were also reached by the experience of the project. The project received a merit distinction in the Scientific Divulgation Award “Francisco de Assis Magalhães Gomes” sponsored by the government of Minas Gerais state.
