Abstract

The transportation of pig iron by torpedocar has been used since the startup of large-scale blast furnace operations at Chiba Works of Kawasaki Steel Corporation in 1977. The ATH type injection process was adopted for the desulfurization of pig iron. This report mainly describes the following topics: Operational conditions to improve the reaction efficiency of the desulfurizing agent. Improvement of the agent to reduce consumption and cost, and the development of a new desulfurizing agent.
