Abstract
A series of experimental trials have been carried out in the modular slice of the Tecnored industrial furnace at the Tecnored pilot-plant in Brazil, using as burden 100% of self-reducing briquettes composed of blast-furnace sludge, flue dust, mill scale, LD sludge (fine fraction), CDQ fines and CWQ sludge generated in the Companhia Siderúrgica de Tubarão (CST). The hot-metal produced in pilot scale thru the Tecnored process presented similar characteristics to the one produced in conventional blast-furnaces. These trials have showed the Tecnored process as one very promising alternative with economical and environmental advantages for the recycling of by-products generated by the mining, iron and steel industry.
