Abstract
The results of the application are exposed from the process of reduction by coal of the solid residuals of the nickel´s factory ¨René Ramos Latour¨, belonging to the town of Nicaro in Cuba, for obtaining nuggets of pig-iron containing some Ni and Cr, using Rotary Heart Furnace process, which is the most feasible from the economic and environmental technical point of view. The complete factorial experimental design was planned, introducing as independent variables (the temperature, the basicity, the content of coal and the diameter of the pellet) to analyze their influences in the reduction grades and metallization. The experiment was carried out in a muffle furnace, with graphite crucible. The mathematical statistical models were obtained that better they represent the existent relationship among the variables, as well as the kinetic model that better it is adapted to the experimental results. The results of the characterizations of the obtained nuggets threw the presence of alloy elements such as the chromium, silicon, nickel, manganese, cobalt, vanadium, among others.
