Abstract

Este trabalho tem por objetivo reformular uma típica massa de telhas de Campos dos Goytacazes visando uma melhoria de suas propriedades físicas e mecânicas após queima, utilizando areia de quartzo e argila fundente ilítica. Foram preparados corpos de prova por prensagem uniaxial a 20 MPa para queima em temperaturas variando de 850°C a 1100°C. Os resultados indicam que a areia e a argila fundente melhoram significativamente as propriedades finais da cerâmica.

 

This work has as its objective to reformulate a typical roofing tiles body from Campos dos Goytacazes aiming at a better performance on the physical and mechanical properties of the fired ceramic, using quartz sand and illitic flux clay. Specimens were obtained by 20 MPa uniaxial pressure and than fired in laboratory furnace at temperatures varying from 850 to 1100oC. The results indicated that the sand and flux clay enhanced significantly the final properties if the ceramic.
