Abstract

In recent years a longer campaign of a blast furnace is demanded more than ever. For this reason Mizushima Nos. 2 and 4 blast furnaces were subjected to detailed dissection after blow-out. The outcome of this diasection-particularly, improvement of the hearth and lower stack--ras applied t o reconrrtruction of Mizushima No.4 blast furnace, and it may sefely be said the original targets of a furnace campaign of more than 8 years and a cumulative productio/inner volme of more than 5.500 t-p/m3-in. vol. would be successfully achieved.
