Abstract

The sintering process can be quite adequately bench modeled using devices known as a "sinter-pot". The processes that can be arranged in these devices, are practically identical with those occurring in sintering machines. This fact gives every reason to consider the sinter-pot as a fragment of the sintering machine. However, to quantify the process parameters on the basis of experiments carried out in such devices seems to be quite an approximate affair, which cannot provide a sufficiently reliable information for sound decision making. The reason for that is that such a pot would be in operation periodically only, while a sintering machine works continuously. A continuous process ensures a certain balance between the yield and content of returns in sintermix. It is capable of maintaining the ignition and gas dynamic duties that are typical for it. Simulation of these features of the uninterrupted sintering process will enable to a greater degree to make the experimental data analysis more efficient.
