Abstract

WETFINE® is a new offgas cleaning technology capable of reducing emissions from sources such as sinter and pellet plants to previously unattained levels. Comprised of a scrubber and wet electrostatic precipitator, the WETFINE® system is capable of removing fine dusts such as alkaline chloride particulates simultaneously with PCDD/F and SOx compounds. Two sequential wet electrostatic precipitator sections are foreseen per module to ensure high collection efficiencies for the difficult-to-collect dust particle fraction. The WETFINE® system does not have the operational disadvantages of dry electrostatic precipitators, which include back spraying and re-entrainment. The system is modularly designed, whereby each module can process a gas flow of 70,000 to 300,000 m³/h (s.t.p.). The discharge water is treated in a three-step process to ensure efficient precipitation of the heavy metals and solid separation. Achieved removal rates are as follows: Dust: 91–98% SO₂ with desulfurization: 80–90% Dioxins: 93%–96%
