Abstract
One of the most important step of ironmaking process is the raw materials screening. In order to obtain a particle size distribution adequate for a good furnace permeability is requested to optimize the system capacity to remove the < 5 mm particles from sinter oversize. The blast furnace charging systems can suffer a great project change or a study to optimize its efficiency. This paper shows the work of study and improvement on its efficiency of the sinter screening system based on the control of the screening rate (measured in kg/s). The rate was adjusted from sampling and analysis of sinter particle size distribution on different raw materials condition. The result is a reduction on percentage of <5mm particles in the oversize charged in blast furnace.
