Abstract

A busca ampliada investigou publicações relacionadas à técnica LbL, incluindo termos associados à deposição multicamada, filmes multicamadas, revestimentos e polieletrólitos, resultando em 1.043 artigos.

This work presents a scientometric review on the application of the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique in the development of nanostructured systems, identifying trends, employed materials, investigated properties, and gaps in the literature. The methodology was based on a scientometric analysis using data obtained from the Web of Science database between 2016 and 2026, processed in the VOSviewer software through keyword co-occurrence, co-authorship, and citation maps. The broad search investigated publications related to the LbL technique, including terms associated with multilayer deposition, multilayer films, coatings, and polyelectrolytes, resulting in 1,043 articles. The refined search selected studies specifically focused on nanostructured systems containing polymers, polyelectrolytes, nanoparticles, graphene, metal oxides, and nanocomposites, as well as investigations involving mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties and advanced characterization techniques, totaling 24 articles. The results demonstrated a significant growth in publications related to the LbL technique, highlighting its consolidation in the field of advanced materials. Applications involving functional multilayer films, controlled release systems, and nanostructured coatings were emphasized; however, opportunities still exist to expand research related to advanced characterization techniques and the exploration of new functional applications.
